I just realized I grew up with Orchids surrounding me - I grew up in the very northern part of Norway, on a small island close to the arctic ocean - as I was searching around tonight for orchid info I came across several web pages, especially this one: http://home.no.net/tbaugen/Orkideer.htm
Now I realize I am probably the only one who can actually read Norwegian - but, the Latin names are there
We have over 50 wild orchids, and 11 of them are protected and listed in Cites - 7 are recorded as growing on my tiny home island alone - http://sveinegil.net/flora/ - (my former teacher set this page up with 125 different species )
