OH these are nice!

I've often wondered if you can just change the type of mailbox you have. For instance, all the houses on our street have the boxes ON the house. But what If I wanted to do something like this brick one up BY the house.

Mailboxes are considered to be the property of the federal government, and it is illegal to do anything to them without the permission of your mail carrier. House mounted mailboxes make more work for the carrier. If you ever move it near the street, it is extremely unlikely you will ever be allowed to move it back.
