When a friend of mine moves into a new place, one of the first things I ask is which way the windows face... not because this will determine whether or not she can grow plants, but just because it'll determine which plants I pass along to her!
Pothos and spider plants seem to do well for everybody, no matter how much or how little light they get, and you pretty much can't kill them with a stick. They don't bloom (not significantly, anyway), true, but you can combine them with something that does, or you can overwinter colorful coleus cuttings in the same hanging basket.
Thanks for the reminders, too... my episcia really do need to be watered more often. LOL
