| Faye, your BB's are so pretty. I wish I had all those buttons my mom had left over after making button dolls, I definitely would have a button ball. At least I have more ideas to use when I get back to doing the ones I have. Have a few football fans that would like one for their team. |

| I think this is my first contribution to T2T. You all make me tired just looking at all the stuff you make! The balls look great. They could be used inside as well as outside (thinking of the button ball in my sewing room). Where do you guys get those bowling balls? How do you affix the stones/jewels/buttons/glass/ etc? Then you use tile grout? Do you use a plant pot to stand them on while working on them? |

| quiltygirl, To get bowling balls, I asked friends if they have or know someone who has a ball they no longer want, yard sales and Bowling Lanes. The stand I use while working on the balls is the stand that was inside the bowling ball bag. Perfect for anything to do with the ball. I use Silicone 11 Window and Door Sealent to stick everything. It is water proof and has done great on my balls even when they are outside year round. The grout I use is unsanded grout in any choice color. If the ball is grouted and will be outside, I have found that it is necessary to put a sealer on it. Hope this helps.

| I had two adorable gray kittens like that, and now they are two of the most adorable full grown cats one could imagine. They are littermates one male, Darby and his sister Dora. They do not have one white hair on them and they are georgous! Darby was born with a stub tail and Dora with a long tail - the only way they can be identified. Except that we have grown to know their differences, but sometimes they even fool us and we have to look for a tail. Bet you can't tell that we love them-? |

| I keep on going back and looking at all those great BB's. I'm going to have to make a button one, just love it. Going to check with my sister in Minnesota, she took home a huge bag full of buttons my mom had left over after she made over 200 button dolls. I'm sure she hasn't used them all and think I'll have to bring some of them back home with me in April. Not a sports fan so I'll have to ask DH what the logos are. I'm always a football widow when the teams start playing. |

| I sure would have to have a pattern before I started out, I always need instructions in front of me.
While at the thrift store there was this big plaster elephant that someone had put tiny black mirorrs and grouted it in black. Tusks were painted white, one gal picked it up and said it looks like an antique, well no it wasn't one, but someone did a pretty good job on it. |

| The bowling balls are not hard to do, and I did google to find the team logos. Most times I just start the ball and anything goes. In doing the mirror and broken bottle balls, there is no pattern. Just place glass anywhere it fits. Doing the button ball, I was careful to fill every tiny space with silicone so it is water proof and can be used outside.
Just do it and have fun, it's yours so anything goes. |

| Hi again,
In answer to the question about patterns for the bowling balls, I take a silver sharpie marker and just draw some stems, leaves and flowers trying to stagger them so that not all are going in the same direction. The drawings I made on the ball are guidelines only, sometimes I have to omit a flower or leaf 'cause they just wont fit in. The holes in the ball, I fill with wood filler a few days before I start and sand them and the ball to rough it up a little. Hope this helps. I am working on an urn now, will post pictures when I get it completed. Have fun! |

| I'm going to give it a try too nanaka. I have 2 or 3 BB's out waiting for me to start work on them. A few months ago I picked up 3 wooden balls, each one had a number on it. I wondered if I could put grout over the numbers and then paint them, and get out my glass globs. |

| My friend in Bethel Island, CA saw one of these and so we each had to make one. I use all broken dishes, jewelry, tile pieces or whatever I have. And I have no trouble getting the bowling balls. All I have to do is ask and people just give them to me. I have 4 ready and waiting to be done. Do you seal yours and do you use regular mastic adhesive on yours? They are absolutely beautiful! |

| I always use Silicone 11 Window and Door sealant and not glue to stick anything on bowling balls. I think it's best to seal them after grouting if they are to be used outside.
Will start another as soon as I can get to it.

| Is working with broken glass dangerous, especially while turning the ball, before it is finished and all filled in? Seems like if you wore glove it would be better, but cumbersome with small pieces. Do you get the balls at garage sales? or bowling lanes, as twbmom asked?

| Hi Lynda,
Try bowling centers, yard sales, thrift shops, Goodwill / Golden Rule / Salvation Army type stores as well. You might even try Craigslist and Freecycle. As with any internet transaction, use caution, never go alone.
Working with broken glass can be dangerous, but common sense and precaution is always in order. Wear gloves to transport the ball from one location to another, don't ask me how I know this, I'll just say I was working with broken mirror and underestimated the power of a shard.
Be careful, be creative.

| If you tumble the glass that takes off the sharp edges. You can even shake the pieces in a jar of water and sand for a few minutes.
