I would like to inform every household appliance consumer to avoid GE (General Electric) appliance's like the plague. We own 5 new appliances all made by GE and every one of them has had parts replaced or does not work properly and they are under 2 years old.
Every time we have had to contact their customer service I mine as well have not bothered at all. They are completely useless and not helpful to say the least. For a large corporation you would think that they would value their customers more and want to assist anyway they can but that is not the case.
The problems with our GE appliances are as follows:
* Fridge: The freezer that is located at the bottom freezes the lower trays of the fridge's content
* Electric Stove: Takes forever to preheat
* Dishwasher: One of the wheels fell off and got melted inside the machine
* Washer (frontloader): Would not drain water
* Dryer (frontloader): Had to have the whole cylinder replaced
I wouldn't own another GE Appliance if it was FREE. The quality is embarrassing and the service is atrocious.
I have included a thread of the latest correspondence between my wife and the GE customer service (If you could call it that)
It's a shame that you have had so much problems with GE appliances.
Historically, once you needed parts for a GE, it was so old you could only get them on special order, or from a long-time dealer who had some left-over stock. Mine usually were 20+ yo first, so usually replaced rather than fixed.
I think all the mfgrs have reduced the Quality Control inspections and lifetime testing that was once done.
I just had them come out and look at my frig for the 10th time (side by side) they just repaired all the water lines that were dry rotted and leaked for who knows how long ruining my hard wood floors 8 months ago everything has been changed on the frig...unbelievable to say the least...
it will cost me $500.00 bucks for a new freezer door...we've had our stove, microwave, and refrigerator fixed numerous times with in the last 7 years...all brand new appliances as well?? The quality sure isn't the same as it was years ago...I've never even remember my parents having anything fixed with any of there appliances??? they offered to prorate a new frig for us at 50% off...the offer is only good for a month
Sure glad you mentioned this as I need to get a new stove (don't ask), and thought that GE Profile was one of the top rated ones...I wouldn't get one now for sure...
