I was thinking the very same thing while reading your wonderful story. How nice to have the things around you to bring back such fond memories. I remember my grandma having quilting bees every week and the ladies would rotate whose house it was at. Yes, that was when quilts were made by hand(s).
That had to have been wonderful to actually go to a Quilting Bee! They have always intrigued me. There is a group here where I live that still has Quilting Bees We have a couple of quilts that my DH's grandmother made.
Your's are all beautiful..but I really admire the Tree of Life. SO intricate...
After 9 days without electricity, it is so nice to come back and find you here.
DL...thank you, I do know how fortunate I am, with the memories, the mementoes, and good friends.
Allwild, so nice to hear from you, and sometimes, just so I don't forget, I still will whip up a small wallhanging or pillowcover, just so I can quilt.
Nanny, glad that you have family quilts, too. The Tree of Life is also one of my favorites. I always save it for company!
Thank you all so much for writing, sorry it took me so long to respond.
