Has anyone had experience growing coleus as a standard, like a topiary ball on a stick? I saw some for sale last summer and thought they were just beautiful, as well as unusual... and really expensive! The stem that was the "stick" was quite thick, as if the plant itself was more than a year old. Reading the threads on this forum, I get the impression that keeping plants for more than a few years isn't successful, with most growers taking cuttings. Am I misunderstanding? I would like to try my hand at this and would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
