I really liked your article and live in Florida, zone 8B, close to Pensacola, grapefruit doesn't do well here. You stated that the red grapefruit comes from Texas but years ago, my mother and I favored the white grapefruit and it's very difficult to find does anyone know why?

Hi, joy!
My sister and BIL are near Pensacola and I've been in your area a number of times. Although it's warmer there, it's surprising how many times during the year our weather up here is so similar to yours.
Re the red/ white grapefruit- I don't remember offhand but I suspect the red was just marketed more agressively and consumers now just expect it more. I'll try to look into that question and get back to you in a few days, unless someone else pops in who knows.

Sally: Thanks. The white is not as sweet; but, it is the white that is used a lot to lose weight with and I put salt on my grapefruit, not sugar. LOL
