Sharan, I remember quilts, too! My grandmother stayed with us 6 months out of the year and she helped my mother with everything, from quilting to making lard after butchering hogs!
I remember Daddy smoked Country Gentleman tobacco and it came in little white cloth bags. They saved them, washed them and used them in the quilts. We used feed sacks and flour sacks, too. Once someone went us lots of fabric scraps, one of which was a tiny purple pear pattern. I loved that piece.
They hung their frame from the ceiling, and rolled it up at night to keep it out of the way.
