Our GE Profile Performance dishwasher leaves several gallons of dirty water in the bottom after a wash cycle what could cause this? I have replaced the piston and nut assembly on the rear drain and checked that there is no air-gap needing cleaning in the unit or disposal unit. We have well-water supply and it is acidic. could this be a problem?

I wonder if the impeller has disolved or become detached from the pump shaft.
All the water should pump out at the end of the cycle.

Another thought:
During the cycle water is pumped to the spray arms. If you hear it spraying, it may be the timer or solenoid that operates the valve that switches from spray to empty.

we had a problem with the actual hose underneath the sink that was backflowing back into the dishwaser...we had our sink/countertop repaired and they moved the position of the hose...letting the old water drain back into the dishwasher after it's cycle was completed...
