This is a new panel in the making and I started off with two beveled grape clusters and made 7 additional clusters using the same pattern but different clear glasses. It will keep me busy..lol all hand foiled and it should come out to a 26 1/2" x 30 1/2" panel when complete with a framed geometrical glass border all around. My pattern is still a work in progress as I change things as I go along.

So far, this morning the pattern now has all the leaves in it and more grape clusters around the bigger clusters.. who knows how it will look when completed.

Red leaves, inspired by imapigeon...

they have not been thru the grinder yet, so they are very crudely hand cut, its a start. I'm thinking that last year when I wanted to order that saw, I should have...lol finished size will be 28 1/2"x 28 1/2" with the border. with the frame it will be 36" X 36" (thick wooden frame)

Gourd, your grapes are beautiful.
I don't have that kind of patience. In fact I just do not like to foil. I am a sloppy foiler and you know what that looks like when you solder it.
Where or how are you going to use that?
Be pretty in the kitchen.

Oh thank you. this is the only way I know how right now. I just learned how to reinforce in between the foil to make it stronger so I'll be doing that with one. I can hardly wait to learn to use came, there is no-one around here to give classes in caming. So I may have to go to El Paso to take a class there.

It is for the window above the sink.

I'm so honored to have inspired part of this window---can't wait to see it finished!

What technique did you learn to reinforce the foil?

Leaded glass is way easier than copper foil, IMHO. The only tricky thing is you have to stretch the came. And your work can't be as delicate because the lead is so much thicker than copper foil. The glass just fits into the channel in the came, and then you hammer everything together and solder it just on the joints where the lead comes together. The final step I learned (which I've partially forgotten) was to rub the whole thing with some kind of caulking stuff and then rub it all down with sawdust. But I was taught that leaded glass is never really solid---the pieces almost always move a bit, and that's a good thing.

this is the wire that will be cut into sections and then shaped around each leaf to reinforce. I don't know what kind this is , it looks like brass.

Here is a piece I cut out and placed between the leaf, the wire will be placed there after the pieces are foiled and I am ready to tack solder. Hopefully you can see where I bent the wire to fit around the leaf. The wire is flat, so you stand it up on it's side.

Then I'll place some all around the inner square around the squares and all around the frame area just inside the inner square as the outside will have a wooden frame around it, I am so glad that there was a gentleman that used to do stained glass 30 years ago and I asked him what I could do to strengthen this panel since it is so big.

I'm going to make a point to find out what this wire is called and where we can purchase some. It comes in a nice sized roll and heavy too, but I didn't notice a label.

Thank you both, I haven't done anything for the last few days, but will try to at least cut out some of the grapes that are supposed to be purple tomorrow. Just got home and it has been one long day!

I'm embarrassed, I haven't done a thing to this panel.. I need to grind and I am behind on so many other things. Today, I cut four Crosses from the Share Cross patterns. One is for my Son and the rest are for him to give away to his Airforce buddies. I am determined to get these crosses to them this coming weekend.. boy, do I push myself, but, I want to keep my promise. And, it is my son's birthday Monday.

We have an hours drive to his home, which is not bad, we will go Sunday. I just need to foil and solder the crosses tomorrow and Friday. I wish I could do a better job.

They look alright, but simple.. I'll take a photo.

I don't want them to go, but there's nothing I can do about it. Although I'm pretty proud of them also.

a little update, not much done on it. The leaves have been ground, and there are more purple grapes done and still need a little more grinding. The two shades of green glass on the side of it will be the stems and the rest of the areas that are brown paper now. The border colors have been circling my brain between purple and blue water glass alternating, or the clear textured all around in a small squared border. This week I hope to get some of the green areas done.. It looks better in person..lol

I totally agree! It also helps me stay motivated, because I feel like there are people "out there" who are interested in my progress.

And I can't wait to see the next photo of your grapes!
