I feel so privileged to live in Arua in Northern Uganda for all sorts of reasons. One is the opportunity to cultivate palms and other exotic plants.
Here are some photos of my successes and failures. First are two photos of palms that we found growing on our plot of land when we bought it. This is a Borrassus aethiopium (I think!). It is a youngish one, when we first came about 4 years ago it had not started trunking. They are very common in northern Uganda and Southern Sudan. They like the dry savanna and elephants like knocking them over to eat their fruit! No elephants here though.
