Geoff, thanks for your article. Having been born and reard in the South, I'm quite familiar with the Mimosa and was surprised a couple weeks ago to find it was on the invasive plants list on the Agricultural website. However, I'd never consider removing any on mine. They are too much a part of my life to do so and the butterflies and hummingbirds live the flowers. I, too, know there are mixed opinions on this tree but this is mine: I love them. Lee
A friend saw one of these at a plant faire a year or two ago and still talks about it. I'm sure she will have one in her yard soon as I have passed your article along to her. Maybe I will have one in mine, too.
This tree has been on my list since I first saw it. I already have an a. julibrissin thriving here. This "chocolate" form would be a stunning addition. :)
