Purchased a peony, roots in a package, which had a picture of a lovely dark pink blossom with finely
cut petals in the center indicating a really nice double. 'Emile Debatene'. Checked some web pages
and the correct color is something like a delicate pink outer petals and a near white center. There
were 2 cuttings, one with five eyes and one with 2 eyes, so I got a twofer for $4.98.
I had purchased some peonies from the same store, Lowe's, about 3 years ago with the correct
picture for the cultivar listed. Deep red 'Karl Rosefeldt'--may be spelled incorrectly. When they
bloomed they were similiar to 'Bowl of Beauty' which is a single pink with yellow stamens.
I was curious if any other members had similiar experiences in buying prepackaged peonies from
big box vendors. I know it is really common for irises but I was surprised about the peonies. I
dislike waiting 3 years or so to find out what I have.
