I have not been that successful in growing my tomato plants from seed but my mom grew them every year starting in little peat pots in the house. The potato top tomato plants sound like they would be excellent for someone who likes growing indoor tomatoes. I have grown tomatoes in the greenhouse that are so much better than the ones you buy in the supermarket during the summer.
I hope you'll try again sometime! I've got a series of "Seed Starting 101" articles that might be helpful... I start tomatoes as I learned from Carolyn (one of DG's top tomato gurus), just 8 weeks ahead of time, sowing seeds in a seed starting tray and potting them up in deep 2 inch pots when they have their first pair of true leaves.
