For the first time, I'm attempting to overwinter maybe two dozen coleus inside. They're in 4" pots and in front of windows. Two or three have bit the dust. Most are doing ok; some are growing and looking good. Here lately mealies have found a good thing, and I've been spot treating with a Q-tip and alcohol, but a couple have been so infested I discarded them. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the others can hold out for three or four more weeks. Then they can go back outside where the natural enemies of mealies can help me out and where the humidity is more to their liking. Forced heating keeps the humidity lower than they prefer. I don't think I want to do this again. I'm constantly moving one to the sink, watering it, letting it drain, and then watering the next one. These were just some that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to find again this year. Considering the trouble this has been, the $4.75 (or the better co-op prices) for new plants don't sound bad at all.
