I'm kind of new to mail ordering of plants including seeds. Palms happen to be my very favorite variety of trees. I took a chance on e-bay and put in a bid for a package of Sabal Palmetto seeds. I won the bid. I did everything the seller said to do to get the seeds to germinate. I asked the seller if the seeds were still viable, and the seller said they were, and were hand picked a few months earlier. I planted the seeds in small pots on my window sills after removing the berry or drupe from them. It was very slow, and I almost held my breath to see if they would sprout. Most of the seeds sprouted.! I may do mail order again with seeds, but only if the price is real low,as I can't trust if the seeds will germinate. Mail ordering is the way to go,if especially you can't find the plant in your local area. Here in my area of Arizona,Sabal Palmettos can't be found in nurseries, and I did see one or two plants at one nursery, but the plants were so superhuge,in a huge wood box container, that it would take professionals with a larger truck than a personal pickup like mine to haul it.!
