Here's what I found at the San Diego Zoo! An abandoned camellia garden from the 1909 world exposition.

A lot of Balboa Park was built for the 1909 World Expo. It was intended to be temporary, but they liked it so much they kept it.

I know some of it - the buildings - were reconstructed. I don't know if this camellia garden ever was.

I remember some of the reconstruction. They went to a lot of trouble to make them look the same. There were a lot of thing planted in 1909 that are still there. There are some huge trees that they have strung cables across to keep the branches from breaking.
