Loved the article Lee Anne, and the photo's really add to the writing, beautiful blooms!
I knew nothing about Hoyas when I joined DG in the fall of 2006. At that time I had just one H. carnosa 'Rubra' that was given to me over 30 years ago. It wasn't my favorite plant, it only bloomed sporadically and I think I just kept it because it was a gift from an elderly friend. I had no idea there were so many different Hoya's until I began "lurking" on the Hoya thread! I think I really got hooked when I read that some Hoya's are fragrant! Of course, all the photo's of the beautiful foliage and blooms added to my interest! Then I found out about the trading here in the garden, and began receiving cuttings in trades. I also joined in my first co-op, and bought plants at the local garden center when I saw ones that caught my eye. On last count I had 55 Hoya's (which I know is a small collection compared to many). Mine range from single stem newly rooted cuttings, small plants, medium sized plants ... to the one large H. carnosa rubra.
I blame everyone on the Hoya Forum for my growing obsession with these gorgeous, persnickety and wonderful plants! My Hoya "Wish List" grows on a daily basis! Seems like I get one and mark it off the want list but see someone post a picture of new ones I've never seen or heard of, and there goes my list ... getting longer and longer, LOL.
I have learned so much from all of you and I appreciate the sharing of knowledge! Again, Thanks for another great article!
