I have used acrylic craft paint to tint the grout on a stepping stone that has been outside for several years now with no problems.

I used it on one project, but did not use enough red, so it looks pink, it also faded really bad, I think it faded because it is in full sun and I did not seal it with grout sealer to see how long these would last outside, the grout is breaking off a little and even the red marbles faded, they are just painted I guess . This is the one i used it on. One of the helmet recycle projects.

Now the one with sealer has not faded one bit, but I did use black grout.

I've used acrylic paint mixed with grout and it has worked well. The only problem is that you have to make sure you mix up enough the first batch, because if you run out, it's hard to match the color again. For that reason, I usually just buy colored grout (got a bunch of different colors at a yard sale once).
This is a gazing ball stand I made (out of a vase and a flower pot turned upside down). The gazing ball is a plastic Christmas ball from an after Christmas sale ($2 !)

That looks great, did you glue the vase to the flower pot? I LIKE!

No, nothing is glued together, and so far it's been fine (made it last summer).
