I have a dendrobium Kingiatum (not sure about the spelling) I got last year. it just finished blooming. it only had one flower spike. I was told that this orchid is similar to cymbidiums in culture. Here in zone 9, central coast, CA my cymbidiums thrive on neglect, outside all year with two doses of fertlizer per year. I have very little experience with orchids and this is the first time i've gotten one to rebloom. I was nervous about leaving it outside so Dendro k. has lived all year in the east facing unheated shed window with green corrugated plastic roofing. christmas cactus is thriving right next to it. When the flower spike started I brought it inside to enjoy. It has one new leaf spike that has not bloomed. It does have little swollen nodes I'm wishfully thinking could be flower spikes. I fertilize inconsistently with liquid organic bloom food that I use on the other blooming plants and the regular orchid fertilizer, whatever I happen to be walking by with. Could it need more light, more fert, more water? should I leave it outside with the cymbidiums. Ah! I feel like a bad orchid mommy. This little guy is so cute.
