I received a Phalenopsis orchid and Guzmania bromeliad as a gift for Valentine's Day and need some advice.
They are both planted in the same 6" pot growing indoors. The bromeliad is growing quickly in its new environment. My concern is should these plants be transplanted into 2 pots? Can they continue to grow together? The orchid does seem to be a little cramped for its space.
My friend believes they should be separated, as their requirements are quite different. One needs soil the other needs orchid bark mix. There seems to be a mixture of both in the pot.
I don't want to lose either plant by disturbing their environment.
Please help as these are both new plants to me that I love and want around for a long time.
Thank you all for all the tips I have been receiving from this board as a new member. I am learning as I go.
