I'm wondering if it's Leucobryum glacum?
It looked more cushiony before my son stomped on it in a fit of pique.

If it looks that green in Canada this time of year, I wish I had a giant roll of it to carpet my small front yard. I love moss but it's way too expensive to buy in any substantial quantity.

It's that tough to id - moss is very underrated - I had to add a few species to Dave's Garden myself.

Look like maybe 2 species - a starry kind and a whitish scaled kind - the majority of structures in picture is spore capsules.
