I planted a coral bark japanese maple this past fall--some of the upper branches turned black at the tips down 1-2 feet (small branches)--I cut these parts back and they were dead--now parts of the bottom of the trunk are turning black--since the branches were dead, I am assuming this is not good--is my tree dying?
