Please tell me what you all think?? The grout colors are not what I wanted. I was hoping for darker shades of the blue and the purple, but that is all the paint I had. All in all, I don't think it turned out to bad?? Remember, it says " CASA DEL LUNA" The house of the moon. Can you all see that? Or am I in LALA LAND??????

NOW I get it. I couldn't figure it out till the grout was in. WHat if you did a darker wash over the grout? It would wipe off the glass and maybe show up more. I really love the design and the little squigle shapes you used for the letters.

I'm very new to this forum, but I joined so I could watch and learn from all of you who are doing such awesome mosaics and stained glass. I've had one mosaics class, and I've been learning by doing stepping stones that I already had. This is just a lovely idea, the words, different colors of grout, and I was wondering what the shiny flakes are in the grout between the stones.

Welcome to the forum darci! I'm new to all of this also,

I just noticed that it says' Casa De Luna, it looks even better now to me that I know. I was concentrating on the grout color and did not read it.

Thanks for the welcome, Gourd! I didn't know you were new, too. I've been looking at your beautiful work as well. I love adding found objects to mosaics. It makes them so personal.

Welcome to you Darcie!!!! Thanks for the compliment. They are always nice to see!!! I colored the grout with acrilic paint and added glitter to the grout. Then when I finished cleaning all the remaining grout and while it was still wet, I sprinkled more glitter on top. Two days later, when the grout was dry, I sealed it. Very little glitter came off. By the way girls, I am new at this too! This is my first piece!!! It was FUN!!!!! This will be great!!! We can all learn together!!!

Hi Loveshorses! Thanks for the info and the welcome. Glitter, huh? I hadn't even thought of doing that. So many great ideas in this forum. I'll post photos of my stepping stones soon. I started out with 11 round ones, and I'm about half through. I figured that by the 11th one, I would either be sick of mosaics or pretty good at it!! :) Don't you just know that one of 'em is gonna have glitter in it (\~_~/)

How can you get sick of 'Art of any kind"? If you loose your "spirit", start something else until you get inspiried again!! Do Not EVER give up!!!! Just wait until you get the inspiration you need to start or finish a project!!!! ART IS A "GOD GIVEN GIFT". Think about it. How many people do you know that can produce, ART OF ANY KIND??? Wheather we think it's beautiful ,or they think it's beautiful,... It is ART!!!!. And, most importantely, IT COMES FROM THE HEART!!!!

Ever since I was an art student, I have thought about the deffinition of "Art". I've always been a bit baffeled at what often passes as art in galleries, museums and especially public art . I finially decided what fits my criteria of "art". If you take an installation or piece of "art" and put it in a trash heap and it definately stands out and looks out of place, then it is probably Art. If you can't leave it there.

I really wonder what people 100 years in the future would think of some of our so called art today.

I agree wholeheartedly, Loveshorses. I've always got half a dozen things I can hardly wait to do. My art journey began when we were living in Louisiana, and I would go down and stand for hours, watching the street artists in the French Quarter. One day I said, "I think I can do that." I went home and began studying, buying supplies and taking a few classes. Within a year, I was selling my paintings in an art gallery. Next, I took on digital art, and now I write for a digital art magazine. Mosaics/stained glass is my latest challenge, and I've also bought a rock tumbler because I was inspired in this forum to make sea glass. There's always something new out there to learn! (\~_~/)

Hello Loveshorses,

You might want to check out Rub-n-Buff, you can simply rub
it on the grout you have already used. It comes in so many colors!

Craft stores generally only carry a few different colors, so definitely
worth a look on the internet.

Hope this helps,
KM
