Hi! It looks like you have your grow lights in the garage...Is that so? I'm in zone 5 and thought it would be to cold to start plants in the garage. I hope it it true because I WANT to start them out there! Any advice?
Thanks,
Judy
I had the grow lights in the garage only to photograph them. And yes, it would be too cold to start plants in our garage in March (zone 5). We have an area in our basement I set up for starting seeds indoors and although it's not the warmest place, and we don't use seed starting warming mats, we always have good luck with seedlings there.
I don't think I would risk starting seeds and growing your seedlings under grow lights in an unheated garage, especially here in the northeast where winter tends to hang until late April and sometimes even into early May. If you have a sunny south-facing window, and only want to start a few seeds, you're better off placing your seed starting tray near that window once the sprouts come up. If it's a very sunny window, don't put your seedlings in direct sunlight, they'll get too hot and die.
