Have just cleaned a closet out .. way in the back were several TShirts on hangers .. mostly white or pastel .. the shoulders of these TShirts are discoloured from dust :-(

Any suggestions on what I should soak them in before washing them ? I am not going to use Oxy Clean as I think it's over rated ..
Was thinking of either vinegar and baking soda or .. bleach .. I have had bad luck with bleach in years gone by .. it either yellows .. or .. the smell never washes out completely .. I have some Fels Naptha soap .. perhaps if I dampen the shoulders and scrub with that first ?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

If it's really just dust you might try washing them first and see if that gets rid of it--dust is just particles of dirt and so things like Oxi and bleach which work by bleaching out the color left behind by stains won't work, but laundry detergent and water ought to do the job.

Done deal .. I think it was mostly just dust .. but .. it seemed 'grimey' to me .. anywho .. I used SHOUT .. let the TShirts soak for about half an hour before I put them in the washer in HOT water with bleach .. and .. I'd say it was a bout 95% effective :-)
Now .. I'll hang them back up .. put them in the closet .. and forget'em for another 18 months LoL

I am glad your Tee Shirts worked out.

I have found that when I have 'hanger' edges - it is because the light in the closet has faded that area over time. That is a real bummer..to have a pair of slacks ruined or the shoulders of a shirt/sweater/tee whatever ruined because the darned florescent ruined them.
