| Thanks for the great article Jill.
I am not familiar with the newer types of frogs at all. My mother gave me a frog that was her mothers. It is lead crystal (I think) and is the quite heavy. It sits on the top of a large mouthed vase and the holes in the frog are all the same size. I have never been able to use the effectively.
I guess it needs a perfect matched vase so that you don't see this large thick crystal frog sitting on top on the vase. Perhaps I need to search for a vase that is a little wider at the mouth than my frog is. Maybe it is my technique. I am not sure of the problem but I do treasure this frog from my mother. It is beautiful but just sits in my cupboard hidden away.
Maybe I will try harder this summer since you helped inspire me to WS. Yep. It is all your fault - LOL. 72 containers planted. I may need to do some cuttings of these flowers and keep a fresh bouquet in the house every week. Oh, the trouble I can get myself into. And I still have seeds. sigh.
Thanks again for the informative article.

| The glass frogs with holes are a little different... some might be usable perched in the opening of a vase, but I've also used them to good effect at the bottom of a vase or bowl... just like the pointy frogs, but instead of impaling the ends of the stems, you stuff the stem down into a hole in the frog. For this article, I figured it would simplify things to stick with the pointy type frogs. ;-)
I've got a hole-type metal frog... and it's shaped like a turtle! LOL
72 containers will give you bountiful blooms this summer! Wow! I'm not sure it's "all my fault," though... I think I had help from some other DGers...

| Jill - No. The WSing is not your fault and you were very helpful with advice and ideas.
I truly appreciate all your help.
Guess I will have to step up and take the responsibility for all the containers I sowed. And to be honest - I am really eagerly anticipating some great results. It was work, doing the organizing but pretty easy way to get blooms. Of course I will take all the credit when I get beautiful blooms. Ha ha.
You are officially off the hook for my new obsession.
Thanks for all your help!

| Oh, I'll shoulder my fair share of the blame, LOL... especially if I get to share in the credit!
Good luck with all your seedlings-to-come! |

| I've been fortunate to have several types. My daughter gave me a new glass one that looks like a blown glass donut. It is floated in a bowl and a single short stemmed bloom is inserted to "float" in the bowl. It keeps the petals from becoming water logged. |

| Oh, I'll bet that floating frog would work well with a camelia bloom, also... my landlady used to float perfect camelia blossoms in shallow cut glass dishes. :-) |

| I have a large glass frog that was my mother's and I fill the holes with old glass marbles I played with as a child and set it on the ledge of my greenhouse window in my kitchen. The light goes through the clear glass and the marbles and I get many comments and compliments on it. I think it is better than putting in the bottom of a bowl for flowers! |

| What a great idea!! Those glass frogs are pretty, even empty, and it always seems a shame to tuck them away in a drawer. |

| Oh. That idea is wonderful. I never thought of doing anything like that and I have it tucked away in the back of a cupboard! I have lots of different coloured glass beads so I think I am going to dig it out, dust if off and fill it with my beads. I just love DG and the great ideas ( like yours) that people share.
Thanks for the inspiration!

| The colored beads would look great! I love DG too--for so many reasons including the ideas, the education, and the chance to talk to so many interesting people from all over the world! |

| Jill and Nancy - Thanks for posting the interesting info. I had forgotten just how beautiful that frog is. And it has three crystal feet on it too. Forgot that detail.
It has been dusted off and taken out of the cupboard and is making me smile every time I look at it with the colored beads catching the light from the window. Feels like a big hug from my DM and my DGM.
Thanks for the incentive and Nancy - you are obviously one of the people that is willing to share great ideas with others :)
God Bless
