| Change of seasons in Australia is on the first day of the month, so autumn started 1st March. But where I am the whole spring/summer/autumn/winter scenario doesn't fit in. The Aborigines have 6 seasons here (Whites have 2), based on the responses of nature. Although the weather is going a little crazy (as over most of the planet) we're now in Bangarreng, also called "The Knock'em Down". It's usually after the monsoon (Kudjewk) and when we get storms. The Spear Grass (Sorghum intrans) is up to 2 - 3 metres high, flowering and dropping seed. The storms knock the tall grass down. But this year the monsoon's died early, although there's still a chance (probability) of another burst before the dry season (Yekke). Officially the wet season ends at the end of April. |
