I realize that most pruning cuts will heal on their own; however, is there a spray or sealant that can be used to prevent new growth? I was particularly thinking about supressing the regrowth of suckers at/below the soil line of my Crepe Myrtle.

I have the same problem with my crabapple tree. I'm going to try a product called Sucker Stopper. I've never used it, so I can't give any advice. Anyone else have helpful advice about suckers from the soil line?

There are chemicals that can be used to supress growth.

Check with your county extebsion office or a good garden center.
