I need a potting bench. What do you think of a mans old work bench. maybe I could paint one to make it look nicer? there is one in my father in-laws garage. he sadly passed away and its just sitting there unloved. It is nine feet long and about 1 1/2 feet wide. with a galvanized top. Thanks

I had this all typed in and hit the wrong button..@#$#@.Darn

1 1/2 might be a little tipsy..If not up against something. If not maybe a stake.in the ground ?? The galvanized top will be easy to clean..Add yourself a Shelf on top & underneath..You got your self a nice long potting bench

Now to be a wise __ guy,
My Sis has work bench..Dose that make it woman's old work bench..LOL

Bella don't give up on the bench..Like I said IF you can drive a stake on each end.Opposite corners..If you want it wider.A couple of shelf brackets on each end, maybe 1 in the middle

You would have a nice size potting bench..

You will learn to use ANYTHING as a potting bench. I use an old stainless steel desk from a dental office. It works great. I have one of those utility sinks right next to it. They both sit out in the open all the time.
You will get ideas of your own as you start to use it.

Thanks Rosehollow,
I have been on a few garden tours lately, and I am seeing all kinds of used furniture used in creative ways. Seeing different uses for things is really fun and Green. I like your idea about the dental table. I mean why not, you are seeing something in another way, and it has me thinking too.!!!
Thank you

Hi Tubbylee, Gosh I have not been on line for quite a while. I am in school to become a landscape designer. I have been using an old rod iron table for my potting/propagation bench. I works pretty good. I did paint the old workbench baby blue with boat paint, but my husband had me leave it, in the house that is now a rental. Maybe one day I will get to take it home. For now the cute little family in my in-laws house are very sweet and she was excited to use it. Thanks for all the great ideas. I have so much homework now ( 5 classes at 50, is a lot LOL} but I am loving it! Wanted to do this for about 20 years. Keep it touch tubbylee you are a VERY NICE!!!!
Thank you
Bella
