Jill, great article. I shared the 'engraved' part with another DG'r who I know bought some used copper mini blinds. She used one set for the dining room and cut the other set into strips and lined her kitchen soffit with them. I though she might have some extras and thought you might enjoy her response...

Too cool! And, no, I don’t have any left-over slats. But I’ll keep this idea in mind. It’s a moot point anyway because dear hubby has a tendency to do bad things to my perennials! The other day, for example, when he had leftover dirt from another project, he dumped it on some plants! Oh, wait! If I’d had those plants tagged maybe he wouldn’t’ve dumped dirt on them. Hullo! (I’m a bit slow on the uptake this morning! Wake up, Sue!)

LOL

I never even considered that there might be copper blinds -- that would be a great source of engravable (well, dent-able) label strips!

When I hired a couple of kids to help mulch last summer, I put little orange survey flags on top of all the plants (a double row of daylilies plus a few misc. ones)... they had orders to pull the weeds between the marked plants and then mulch. No daylilies were pulled up by mistake! :-)
