Usually, we spend 3 to 4 months in FL and then go back to AR, hauling our orchids (about 10 of them) back with us, where they stay in our sunroom until the trip back to FL in December. My problem is the fact that this year we need to be back in FL the first of May at which time we could take the plants back with us, rather than leaving them in the sunroom and asking neighbors to take care of them for us. My question is: Could I set these plants in roughnecks with about an inch of water, and hope that they would stay about 6 weeks without rotting the roots? If anyone can help with this, I would be grateful.
