| I have been wanting a Shark Steam Mop. Does anyone have one? Do you like it? I hear Dirt Devil makes one also. The Shark runs $75 and I would assume you would need more mop heads than the 2 it comes with. We have primarily tile floor & I can not keep it clean with two young children. I also have a horrible back. It is more money than I wanted to spend, but I am hoping for a miracle machine.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

| I have a Bissell steam mop and really like it--I've got tile floors throughout my house and it does a great job. The only problem is if you don't keep up on the cleaning and let the floors get too dirty, the mop will tend to push dirty water into your grout lines and make the grout dark. But if you stay on top of things then that's not a problem (or maybe just switch pads more often if the floor has gotten dirty). You'll still have to vacuum or sweep to pick up pieces of stuff first though but tile is pretty much always a two step process no matter what you use to clean it. So it's not a miracle machine but it does work well. I doubt the Shark is that much different than the Bissell, they both work on the same principle |

| I have been reading Amazon reviews & now I am more confused than when I started. If I can find the Eureka Enviro-steamer i will buy it. It sounds like a good compromise. |

| andi- thanks for the links. So yours is a steamer that has a mop attachment. I haven't seen that one. I bought a steamer for cleaning my shower, but it turned out to be a mess. This MOP seems like it would be something I would like. We have been puppy sitting for a few days. Believe me it would be great!!! thanks. |

| Yes, a steamer with a mop attachment, sort of like a canister vac. I have to say it was a bit of a PITA dealing with the steam, and I don't use it too often.
Do they make a mop as such? It's not that thing shaped a tea kettle is it? Those aren't very good. |

| The tea kettle thing is horrible. Worthless.
The mop looks like a swiffer kind of. It has a cloth pad & a small compartment on the handle. It weighs 3 lbs. |

| Yeah the attachment I have is like a vacuum hose, and then it has a spot where you put the towels. I substituted by sewing up the sides of a washcloth. |

| I have a Shark Steam Mop and I love it. Most of my home is tile floors. I previously tried the clorox ready mop but because I have some uneven floors it would not slide well at all across the floor. This was given to me by a friend, the Shark, I love it and recommend it to my friends. Loaned it out and she bought one. You can buy several mop heads on Ebay, but don't use harsh cleaners. I did not have a manual and tried bleaching mine but you are only supposed to used regular detergent. I am not too impressed with the carpet glide to steam your carpets, only good for smooth throw rugs.

| My steam mop just uses water too. The holes where the steam comes out would clog up if you used detergent/cleaner with it, it's meant to clean just with steam (plus the holes are too small to let liquid through, they just release the steam, so I don't think the detergent would come out at all). There are other types of floor cleaners like the Hoover Floor Mate that do use detergent, but they don't have steam, just hot water. |

| I have the Hoover. I was really disappointed. It doesn't scrub hard enough. It also really is tough sqeezing the trigger to get the clean water to go on the floor. The suction is fantastic though and the dirty water is dirty. I sprayed the cleaner direcctly on the floor & then used the scrubber. I really wanted it to work. |

| I didn't like the Hoover either--I have a 2 story house with tile floors all over both levels and I have a bad back, so I needed something lighter that was easier to lug up and down stairs. Even aside from that I wasn't happy with it--it cleaned OK but I had trouble with the suction, seemed like it would suck up two drops of moisture and then it would lose suction unless I emptied the two drops of water out. And you can imagine how long it would take to clean the whole house with having to empty out the water ever few seconds! I had actually wondered if mine was broken and had plans to try and return it but never got around to it. I love my Bissell steam mop, it cleans better than the Floor Mate did, plus it's nice and lightweight and easy to get up and down the stairs. |

| Oh, I never used detergent in the water, I have tried vinegar though, figured it wouldn't hurt and would keept the jets clean, but mostly use plain water. I was talking about when you wash the cloths, I couldn't get mine to look clean again and tried bleach, still didn't come clean. Well my water softener was broke, that probably caused that, now it is fixed. But my friend who bought one said only regular detergent when you wash the pads, nothing strong.

| I had the Shark canister steam mop and it was AWESOM!!!! I loved that thing, but after about 5 years, it will no longer heat, so I bought the smaller model out now and don't really care for it. If you can find the canister model though, it is absolutely wonderful! It made mopping 1000sf of tile super easy. I never put cleaning solutions in it, just water, but if I needed a cleaning solution, I just sprayed it directly on the floor and ised the steam mop on it, worked great. Even got up my kids crayon marks on the tile. As for the grout issue, once in awhile I would use one of the brush attachments and a spray cleaner to clean the grout. Looks like a new floor afterwards. The upright model works ok, but I haven't found any steam mop to compare to the canister. (The pads are reversible and easily rinse out with a little dish soap. Don't put in washer). I believe you can still purchase one directly from Shark. |

| I want to post this in both forums for those who have shark steam cleaners. Mine stopped working. Hubby just fixed it. He thinks the jet got clogged and it overheated the shark blowing out a fuse. Now these things are $75 to replace. He said to wait. He bought a thermal fuse for heating devices like coffee makers and hair dryers at Radio Shack for a dollar and that fixed it. Of course he had to take it all apart and he is a handy man. Gotta love that man! |

| I have been very happy with mine. I wish I could get a little more "umph" into it though. I clean the floors more frequently now. I bought extra pads on ebay & have plenty to keep up the frequency. |

| I've broke mine twice and posted how to fix it. First it was a thermal couple for a couple a bucks. Then I got too ambitious with some old sign material on my garage floor I was cleaning for my greenhouse. It wasn't smooth and I busted the handle in half, leaving me with a hand held unit that worked. Hubby fixed it too and it still works. LOL
