Ooh, glass lizards are extremely cool... used to see them in GA... they were a good intro critter for those who were deathly afraid of snakes, because they weren't "really" snakes. LOL

LOL I was teaching the Maritime Forest class one time at the Envt'l Ed Center on Jekyll... a little girl wearing a big pink bow in her hair managed to slip in front of my on the trail and walked smack through one of the biggest orb weaver webs I've ever seen. I was sure she was going to wail like a siren, but we'd already found some interesting critters that day, so before her mouth opened I said "oh no! Poor spider! Do you see her? Where did she go? Everybody be careful -- don't step on her! Oh, now she'll have to rebuild that beautiful web..." And instead of shrieking, that sweet little girl got all concerned and did her best to look around and make sure the spider (long gone, of course) was OK.

I gave myself extra points for that one, making up for my moment of distraction in letting her get ahead of me in the first place. :-)

I've had some good snake & gator encounters, too. LOL
