My neighbor has an eight-year-old Japanese cedar that is over twenty feet tall and very handsome. I am surprised it has done so well because her area is quite shady. I would like to plant one at my place, but am wondering if it will turn brown in the winter if it is exposed to more sun. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has a cryptomeria in a sunny site about how it winters.
