I have seen them everywhere and just curious if anyone knows anything about maidenhair ferns, i love them and want to get some for indoors and outdoors but not sure if they will survive both places.

There is a Northern variety:

and a Southern variety:

Hopefully one of the above links will help you.

They need humidity and don't like to dry out - at all. I found out the hard way that they won't recover. I've had good luck growing one in a self-watering African violet pot. So far, it's happy.

They are beautiful - I love ferns, they remind me of summer.

I know that I absolutely ADORE them, and I cannot grow them!

Since I work two jobs, these needed too much attention (to the watering) than I could give.
Seems that if they dried out even once...they were goners.
So beautiful, though:)

1 . They like a lot of water. I put mine on a saucer filled with rocks and water and it does well.

2. They dont like direct sun I put mine near a sunny south facing window but not directly in the window. It browned and turned the leaves crunchy.

3. If you kill it dont throw it out. Submerge it in water until it stops bubbling then cut the branches down to the soil it will come back as you can see in my picture 3 weeks after I totally killed mine!!

I learned all these things the hard way! Its a very finicky plant compared to all my others but its very pretty and well worth it.
