I have a friend who lives in a tent on a large music festival site and tends to the trees and flowers. His only pay is free rent but as you can see from these photo's, he takes his job seriously. He is a firm believer in compost and this first photo is of his compost pit. He dug this pit himself in rocky soil. He constantly collects new compost material for his pit ranging from leaves to shredded tree limbs from the power line company, to newspapers from the local newspaper company, and of course all kinds of greenery from lawn maintence crews at the festival site. Yesterday he told me he was running short of one item...dirt. :-) The compost is built up in one end of the pit untill it is full then it is shoveled to the other end while adding new material.
