I have several peonies, one of them about mid summer last year turned brown and died. It is in a raised bed, with full sun and the closest peony is about 20 feet away. This year it is coming up, lush and green/red, but is only about 6-8 inches tall, all the rest of my peonies are 18-26 inches tall already.
I thought it might be broyitis(sp), but would it be coming back this year? It just turned brown all over and died in a pretty short period of time. It was not soft or mushy, just crispy brown.
One nurseryman said it was because we had such a wet spring last year, but again it is in a raised bed and the other peonies are fine. Could it just be behind since it died so early last summer and did not have much for winter food storage? Should I use a fungicide or systemic or WHAT?? HELP!
