My christmas cactus does well in a room with no windows. It doesnt need a lot of water and has really pretty flowers in the winter.

Philodendrons do well in low light or even no light rooms..You can even sit it outside once in awhile, so it does get some light. They root and grow real easy.

Mother-in-law's tongue (sansevieria) http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/431/ survives in dim locations. However, since bathrooms have a lot of humidity, just make sure you don't overwater it, since they like it on the dry side Other than that, they're pretty indestructible.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will give one a try. Not sure which one yet but probably the Christmas catcus. Seems like it would be the easiest.

I would say not to try xmas or thanksgiving cactus. Not enough light if no windows. Pothos, snake plant, ZZ plant, may work though.

Another idea might be to get two identical plants and swap them out every week or two, letting one recuperate in a bright spot while the other does bathroom duty. That's how they were able to keep draceanas in dark hallways at one place I worked. They got swapped out every couple of weeks for some R&R.

I agree with doing the switch, leave a plant in the bathroom for a few weeks, then switch it with another that is getting good light. I recommend snake plants or philodendrons. I keep phildondrons growing in water in darker parts of my house.
