All are welcome to attend a workshop hosted by JaxFlaGardener to make rain barrels and/or compost barrels from 55 gallon food grade quality plastic drums:

Saturday, June 13
11:00 AM until about 2:00 PM
240 W 60th Street
Jacksonville, Florida 32208

***This post is provided for DG non-subscriber/members or visitors that are only able to access the first post in a thread. Please go to http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/978568/ to sign up to attend this get-together, or send a D-mail to JaxFlaGardener if you are unable to access the DG Roundup Forum thread.***

Food grade quality 55 gallon drums will be available at a reimbursable actual cost of approximately $15 per barrel, plus reimbursable actual cost for hardware for the rain barrels (two hose bibs approx. $3 each) and for compost barrels (hardware costs not yet determined). Tools, instructions and assistance for making rain barrels and compost barrels will be provided at no charge.

This is a followup get-together for a rain barrel making workshop held about a month ago where we had a lot of fun and were able to send folks home with "Earth-friendly" rain barrels. We are adding compost barrel making to this workshop so that those that attended the last workshop will have a new project and those that haven't previously attended can participate in either or both of the rain barrel or compost barrel making projects. Please keep in mind that you will need to have a vehicle that is capable of transporting an empty 55 gal drum in order to take home your completed rain barrel or compost barrel.

JaxFlaGardener will provide snacks and beverages, but others are welcome to bring finger food or their preferred beverage to enjoy while we are working on the rain barrels and compost barrels.

Plant swaps are optional, but you are welcome to bring any plants you have to share or arrange plant trades in advance with other people that will be attending. JaxFlaGardener will have plants to share from his "one-of-everything-that-will-grow-in-this-Zone" garden.

You are welcome to bring along family and friends that may also want to make a rain barrel or compost barrel. The location for this workshop is only about two miles off I-95 in Jacksonville, so if you happen to be traveling through town, you are welcome to drop in. Children are welcome so long as they are supervised and will respect the flowerbed boundaries. They will probably enjoy Gilbert and Sullivan, the pesky pet Pekin ducks, or we can arrange other activities for the kids, if needed.

Please indicate at http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/978568/ or send a D-mail to JaxFlaGardener if you plan to attend and how many 55 gallon drums you will need for yourself and your guests. Please also indicate whether you want to make a rain barrel(s), compost barrel(s), or both.

Looking forward to another enjoyable day of good company, plant talk, and Earth-friendly projects!

Jeremy
