I've cruised through some forums before choosing this one for my question. You all seem to be very health-oriented and I need some good input on this subject.

A little background: I'm in my late 60's and in school to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. I will finish up in December. Although I will be able to provide massage therapy to anyone, male/female, young/old; my wish is to work with people of retirement age on up. I'm noticing that the older people become, the less they are touched and the more they are alone. So... I'm asking you to put on your thinking cap and let me know how you feel about massage.

1. Have you ever had a massage? If so, how long ago?
2. What did you like - or not like - about the massage?
3. Did you feel that the massage therapist helped with any particular condition? What?
4. Was there a technique that was especially relaxing or felt very good? What was it?
5. If you have never had a massage, do you imagine that you would like it?
6. What part of you feels like it would benefit from a good massage?
7. Do you have a positive or negative image of massage? Why?

Please include any feedback, whether or not it answers one of these questions. So far, in school we've been learning how to work out trigger points (hard, sore knots), stretch muscles for increased range of motion, do foot reflexology, and provide an overall relaxing Swedish massage - a head to toe treatment. The great thing about class is that we trade off as therapists - so I get a massage about twice a week from another student. It is so nice to leave a classroom relaxed!
