Hi ,
You will all probably think I am nuts.. I am just wondering if this can be done? The guy at the paint store said no - but hey - ya never know. So I thought I'd ask here for ideas.
Has anyone ever painted the inside of a working brick fireplace? I want to give it a face lift sorta, and make it look nice and neat.
The guy at the paint store suggested rubbing charcoal over it. Not a bad idea.
Do you have any ideas?
There are paints that are made to withstand higher temperatures--here's one example but it does say it's not meant for direct contact with flame. http://www.stovepaint.com/ There are other brands out there, but I suspect most of them are not designed for the inside of the fireplace. The charcoal sounds like your best shot if black is the color you were going for. Any other color even if you did manage to find paint that you could use would just be dirty again the first time you used the fireplace so I think you'd be wasting your time.
