This is our third year with peonies and we have been having great luck with them.
Purchased one a year for the last three years and one more this year. Didn't want to overdue it. Planted each one in a 18 by 18 in. planter 8in tall made from treated 2x8 wood.
The oldest one is about 2+ feet tall and has 13 buds on it.
#2 has about 6 buds on it.
#3 the one we got last year is about a foot tall and looks like it is getting some buds on it
#4 we just got a week ago and I will be planting it this weekend.
Each one was potted when we bought it and the transplanting seemed to go well although we thought we had lost last years but it was just fine and is growing like a weed. I will be uploading some photos of all of them later.
I realize this is probably old hat info to a lot of folks but for first time peony growers like me it might take some of the hesitation out of buyng peonies. I always heard how hard it was to grow peonies but with a little tlc they seem to do alright.
