I guess I assumed since it gets cold in the Netherlands that the same bulbs were there year after year.
Still in the Netherlands in general do they pull out their tulip bulbs after they are done blooming?
What do they do with all those bulbs?
By the Way thank you for those lovely pictures. Growing up in Paris ,France we lived near the Arc de Truimphe(sp). As a young girl I remember the spring the most as we would walk the long boulevard where Tulips of every color would bloom in Early spring.
I recently discovered Tulips that grow in Texas that do not need winterizing and so I have some in my yard now.
I saw some ripening daff foliage in Amsterdam, and the couple of people I talked to said their bulbs come back each year. I think it's just a matter of maintaining a perfect display at the Keukenhof -- remember, it's where the growers show off their offerings for the coming planting season. And they'd be digging bulbs, regardless, I think, just to vary the display from year to year.
