What is the best furniture glide to use on a wood chair on a new wood floor? Should they be nailed in or how attached and what is the best material to use?

ours are nailed in and then this snap goes on top to cover the nail. The glides were a hard white plastic. No scrapes on the hardwood floor around the kitchen table and it is used multiple times each day. Home Depot.
