Here's the farthest traveled group.
KA, Kim (AR); Melody, Lisa (KY) and Terry and her sweet daughter from Murfreesboro. Terry, your daughter is such a sweetheart ! It was so nice to get to meet you, Melody, and Lisa.
Hey Kim - I don't think the purple flowers smell - so what are you doing there?
Genna - I sure wish you could have come. I know you would have had to have had a great time with this bunch ! We sure missed those that didn't get to. When we went to eat, we were amazed that the total count for lunch was actually 20 people. For this not to have been a plant swap - that is really amazing.
When we told Casey Jones that we needed a table for 20 people - the young man said he about passed out. So, we kindly volunteered Ruth to go help clean up the table for us all to eat on. Thanks Ruth! Otherwise, we may have had to eat all seperately.
LOL ... I am sure ya'll were a quiet, mild group... no one even knew you were there !!! LOL NOT !!
Maybe next year... I needed to work in my garden today but I didn't get far because it started raining !! I did manage to get some more seeds planted in jugs though for my flower beds!! I just wish the get togethers were a little more spread out !
One year Genna, it seemed we were doing something every month. We hated saying bye so bad, so we just planned another event for the next month so we could see each other again. I tell you - it is really hard to say bye to such friends that you had so much fun with.
I have had the priviledge of meeting several of the DG folks - and have thoroughly enjoyed it ... really looking for ward to next weekend and seeing several of them again. Then hopefully it will be on to Jeri's just three weeks from now! I just wish this trip to Rita's hadn't been so close to the others... as I have a HUGE to do list here that I am barely making a dent in !! LOL but then it is that way ALL the time !!
Too bad there isn't someone from that direction coming to Debras so that you could come with them...
Bonnie, I bet we lost lots of weight today from all of the toting and sweating...we should be able to fit into a size 3 tomorrow. LOL
Actually, it was Kathy Ann and I that stayed in Jackson. However, we were informed that there was no reservation in our name. But, they got a us a suite next door (for the same price!) and all worked out. Anyway, the room was spectacular! We both gave Jeff several hugs for sending us ;o)
I had fun looking through all the pictures Kenny, You DONE good! LOL
I did have an awesome time too. Darren helped me unload all the plants I picked up today and yesterday, he kept asking me , Mom I thought you weren't going to rebuild the greenhouse, Why are you stocking back up on plants ? LOL.
It was wonderful meeting some new folks this time around. If you folks that didn't get to come ever get the chance to, meeting at Rita's every year is a trip you won't want to ever miss...
OMG Sandra - I didn't know anybody took pictures at my house. Thank you for not showing the terribly bad areas. You have to remember - we didn't plan on even doing anything at my house until 2 days before, so needless to say with me working, I didn't have much time to tidy things up - so what you see is about how it is. My DH did a rush job on mowing and he left alot to be desired too on the back area.
Thank you for including my baby "Milla". Paul wanted to know what everybody thought about her... I think she's really "his" baby. lol.
Well I guess I know a bunch of tired plant hunters!!!! I know Yall had a great time!!!! You can't get that bunch together and it not be a blast!!!! I would be so jealous but I spent the day in my yard and I was too tired to be jealous!!!! Love Yall!!!
Kim it looks like you ended up with lots of work to do for your birthday ! That looks like a great haul ! I forgot about my treasure - I have to run take a picture of my wind chime if I can get a good shot of it.
Milla was tired of sharing her Mom and Dad with all those 2 legged animals this week end-lol
Kim, I can't believe you lost all those hostas that Bonnie gave you--where could they be? I promise I am innocent this time- Terrye might have snitched them, but I only got home with the chocolate loosestrife, and persicaria,my geranimun cutting and the golden jenny--from Bonnies house--I was very good !!!!
Thank you Bonnie
It's me, I'm the guilty one! lol
Kim, I have a Lunar Orbit, Dick Ward (I'm being nice this time. lol) and a LS Shoremaster. And another one that the top was broken off of it. I think it is Fire Island. But I only have those four. Now if TRex had been in that bunch I might have been tempted to stay mum... lol
I have them potted up and will bring them to Jeri's.
The pictures are great. It's so much fun to look at them and remember the fun we had this weekend.
LOL Thanks Terrye, I don't how you managed to get them home. wink wink lol I did not get home with T. Rex, either. lol Oh well, there is always our next trip to Bonnie's...you want to go next week? LOL
Ruth you are my favorite person...I would never believe that you could do something so evil!
That's right! I am sucking up...I don't ever want to get into trouble with Ruth and Lamar again!!!
Well, it is still up in the air. But, if not, maybe Marilyn will bring them back for me. I will talk to her about it this weekend at RU. If not, Terrye, I will be glad to pay for shipping and materials...and gas to get to post office...if you will send them to me.
I loved the wind spinner. All my old tags would look good on one of those, but Ray wouldn't let me cut those up. I'll have to find me some more.
Kim, I'll get them to you one way or the other if you don't make it to Jeri's. Sorry I made off with them. Now I'll have to think of a ransom... lol
There were only two hostas that I didn't have two of and that was Black Satin and Stained Glass and I think those were mine. No T Rex. Did you dig a NOID or could that one be T Rex?
Poor Ruth, you just got picked on all weekend, didn't you? And you didn't do anything! lol
I have been out all morning too, but had to dig up some daylilies for a trade, before I could start planting my stuff, I still like several things being through, but I am trying to get through today as we are looking for rain too.
I think we need some, the wind has been blowing so hot the last 2 days everything is dried out.
I have put off the housework until another day--lol
KA - that sedum is Voodoo sedum (the one out of the frog planter?)
Your containers are really pretty. I kind of did the same with alot of my stuff I got from Rita's (the annuals anyway). Funny, I'm all about container gardening when I go up there and see all of hers. But I felt like I got 1 of alot of caladiums, when I should have gotten several of the ones I really liked. Then I would have planted them in the ground.
Terrye - I know... that's what worries me about Ruth. Maybe she will acquire short term memory before she sees me again. lol. (just kidding Ruth - there isn't a single thing I'd change about you)
I do think I am about done planting except for 3 hostas and the goodies Terrye, Sandra and Kenny brought me. They can grow a little more before going into the ground. I had to mow the back and weed-eat everything. One of my step-daughters is taking someone's senior pictures back there today, so I had alot of tidying up to do, so had to stop planting and really work. lol.
KA / Kim - what do the metal tags look like ? I may want to know too.
Terrye, we did dig a NOID but it was attached to Robin Hood. I will have to get T. Rex the next time.
Bonnie, we forgot to call your daughter about the ducks. If she needs anything have her call or email me.
KA, the planters look very nice. Feel free to come help me fill mine ;o)
On the tags...First of all--I take a sheet of metal and dip it into a positively charged ion bath and cut into strips with tin snips. Then, stamp out the shape with a Gramadagraph 9000 press. Then, I take each piece and cut the point by hand. I allow them to dry. After drying for a few hours, I take the markers and heat them to 750 degrees to anneal the metal so that it will not corrode in the ground. I allow to cool slowly (a couple of days) and then emboss, color and texture each marker with a vinyl/pvc mixture which is negatively charged and it adheres to the positive metal. Again, I let each piece dry for 24 hours. That is all there is to it!
Ruth, I think when Terrye said you had a long memory she was comparing you to an elephant. At least that is the way I read it, so put that on your note also.
Next time I will have your back so don't worry. I promise not to even cancel. LOL
1 more pic of Ruth taking seed pods off the maple tree.
Oh sure you do Kenny that is why do you took all the pictures of me that you said I taking something, you better hope I don't have a memory like an elephant.
Genna, some folks on here "don't do me right" and I'm getting tired of it, I even clean tables for them to eat and still they miss treat me. They get together and don't post anything about it on here so I won't know what they are up and then brag about what a great time they had, but they are going to get old(if I don't kill them)and I hope someone threats them the way they did me.
Okay, I must confess. I made it up! They are nothing more than vinyl blinds that I cut into pieces and then cut a point on one end. But, KA made them sound so fancy, I thought that I would go along with it. LOL
You guys are too funny.
Kim - you had me going for a minute. How in the world did you come up with all that ? From the picture, I was thinking it wasn't "all that" - but then you went into a documtary of how to make, so I thought, "maybe they are special". lol. You saw what I gave ya'll to write on. lol.
I bet the plant Terrye has w/o a name is the TRex. You had Robin hood and the noid together, so if Terrye has a single noid - I bet that is it.
Ruth - you make me cry from laughing so hard at you. I tried to tell Paul about all that, and I guess its just one of those.."you'd just had to have been there".
LOL Well, like I said, KA made them sound so special that I had to elaborate ;o) Most of the information comes from watching "how do they do that" shows. Anytime they make something with metal, they dip and dry and heat and coat...I added the rest to make it sound authentic. Yes, I am a stinker. LOL
Bonnie, I hope one of us got home with a T. Rex...that you went to so much trouble to dig!
Terrye, you are not in trouble with me...well...not much trouble. hahaha
Ruth, please remember what I said...I knew that you and Lamar were going to see one of the sons and that I did not want to put pressure on y'all to come to Memphis!
Well, Back when Nancy Ann was around LOL There was all kinds of metal blinds to be found, Now they don't sell them at walmart any more, and their getting hard to come by at yard sales. She must have just lucked out on hers.
Bonnie, the noid I had was Fire Island. I found the marker down in the bottom of the dirt. Can't figure out what happened to T Rex but I promise, I don't have him. That looks might suspicious since that's the one I was wanting! lol
LoL - I am finding more spaces to plant new ones and to transplant those from the front bed into. If they took them - they took the tags too.
You'd think they would have at least left the holes open so I wouldn't have to dig again.
Off to Dabney's today for lunch...
Anybody want anything?
Don't tempt me Bonnie LOL it's raining here and i've been looking at jap maples and blk bamboo on ebay. I hope the sun comes out soon, It's tough to behave oneself when they can't go out and work off the meanness. ha ha!
Sounds and looks like you all had a great time...Visited some nice houses with beautiful yards. Bought and received lots of nice flowers... I just wish you all would treat Ruth a lil bit better...I see how she goes out of her way to make everyone happy as a group and keep you all together..Even cleaning tables for you... Please give the "QUEEN" her dues!! They should have been making a place at the table for you Ruth, I think you have this all backwards... hehe... I hope to get to see you all again soon Trish
That is too funny Terrye. Our lists have to be long, just in case we can't find everything, right? I thought about getting all my pots cleaned up, and sat where they will be with new soil, so all I have to do when I get home with everything is go around and stick the plants in them. lol.. that'll never happen. No time to do that before we all get together.
I'm not as organized as you all and I'm kinda a spur of the moment "well I like that" kind of plant shopper. But I am going to make a list of the big pots that I need to fill. I have several on my deck that stay in the same spot year round. Way to big to move. I've been dying to get those planted but I have actually held off until we get to Rita's!! From what you all have said, I will probably get some good ideas on what to put in them when I get there. I probably do need to write down the measurement of each pot. Can't wait to start shopping and see everybody!!!
Thanks Sandra! I want to read this good with I have more time than now. I was not happy with my containers last year and really want to do something different this year. Right now I'm been working on repotting brugs! Man have I ever created a monster!!!
