Todd,
Thank you for this article. It will supplement my knowledge on it...I live in Baltimore, MD--zone 7a.

I have had one of these for years...Used to share them when it split--but now i am down to one big bulb that seems to have no intention of splitting...Maybe when i put it outside in a few days and water it--it might change it's mind...Mine has had 2 vines growing out of it for 2 years now and i think it should split soon...

In the winter, I keep mine on my small, laundry room windowsill in an almost total dormant state. I may water it twice...It is in the Winter that it grows all these amazing lush and green vines. A big mess of them! Odd, as the plant is all dry and ignored, but I bet it stores plenty of water in that bulb...I also have had the Pregnant Onion for years...
I got mine, originally, in a trade from someone----don't remember who??? Probably from someone in CA.
