I have grown these onions for the past 30 years in San Clemente, CA and love them. They grew outside with my climbling roses and they were perfect friends growing 10 - 15 feet tall. They were always splitting so I gave dozens to friends there. Moved to the pandhandle of Texas six years ago and brought two with me. They now grow inside in the atrium that has two sky lights and both onions split every year. They now grow 12 feet long and must have been looking for their climbing roses for they climbed the other plants in the atrium. I gave them a chain to climb so they now reach the sky lights and leave my other plants alone. They get watered maybe every other week and are no trouble to care for.
