I recently planted a few dwarf Japanese junipers and thought about adding some lily bulbs in the ground before these spread. Would this work? Can the lilies bloom through the juniper ground cover?

I suspect once the juniper spreads over the area where the lilies are, they won't be able to grow up through it. But if it's going to be a few years before they spread you can enjoy the lilies for a few years and then move them later when the junipers get bigger.
